The History Of Nail Polish

Where did these colors come from? red, black, gold, blue etc. and how the did they start? trust me, it crossed my mind several times. the history of nail polish is unknown to some of us and that is why today, I am sharing this with you.

According to history, in the early 3000 BC, it turns out that china was the originator of nail polish.  During this time men also wore colored nails. The formulation used in those days were eggs white, gelatin, and beeswax as ingredients.

Nail polish were used by ruling class to distinguish themselves from the general population. The metallic shades like gold and silver symbolized power and wealth.

China and other ancient civilizations that used nail polish didn’t permit the masses to use them. The use of nail polish spread across India, Middle East and northern Africa and was wildly used in Egypt. Many other cosmetic products and nail polish vanished from the European fashion after the fall of the Roman Empire. It was until the influx of rebirth and the new trade connection with the Middle East and India before the European aristocracy gained access to the nail polish.

As time went by, nail polish became more popular in France during the 18th century and in the 19th century nail polish and coloring became even more popular among the masses in France, England, Italy and United states, but in the early 20’s nail polish became popular  also with manicure formations.

Today, nail polish comes in different colors with nail arts, tools and we can sit back at home and DIY (do it yourself) or go to the salon and get pampered. So ladies, just have this at the back of your mind and I hope you enjoyed this.
